RIP Alexander McQueen

shoe from Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 R-T-W collection

I just read that Alexander McQueen killed himself yesterday, and I’m feeling pretty awful about it.  McQueen was one of the few fashion designers whose collections I really looked forward to every season. His work was inventive, theatrical and entertaining.  Apparently, he was distraught over the death of his mother a week earlier. Read more in an article here.

For those of you with an interest in his work, I’ll include a few links after the jump.

  1. Toni Tiller Says:

thanks for writing this steph, i was going to try yesterday but just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

    • It’s so sad and i feel sort of disgusted with myself because as much as i feel for him because he was clearly so devastated about his loss, i’m just as disappointed for myself that his collections, which never failed to be among my favorites (usually head and shoulders above the rest), will be no more.

  2. This is indeed a fantastic tribute – I am sharing on Facebook and sending people here to check it out!
